Disney’s family-friendly musical Mary Poppins tells the story of the magical British nanny, her delightful pal Bert and the Banks family, whose lives are forever changed after they welcome Mary into their home. Broadway.com resident artist Justin ‘Squigs’ Robertson tapped into his inner child to experience all of Mary Poppins’ jaw-dropping, eye-popping magic at Broadway’s New Amsterdam Theatre. Setting his portrait during the gravity-defying “Chim Chim Cher-ee/Step in Time” sequence, Squigs captures the musical’s stars Steffanie Leigh as Mary Poppins and Gavin Lee as Bert among the chimney tops while the Banks parents (played by Megan Osterhaus and Karl Kenzler) look on from the window of the house. About the Artist: With a desire to celebrate the magic of live theater and those who create it, and with a deep reverence for such touchstones as the work of Al Hirschfeld and the wall at Sardi’s, Squigs is happy and grateful to be among those carrying on the traditions where theater and caricature meet. He was born and raised in Oregon, lived in Los Angeles for quite a long time and now calls New York City his home.
